This album was composed for a dance piece of the same name, choreographed by Pavel Zustiak, and performed by Slovak dancer Jaro Vinarsky. It was recorded in the summer and autumn of 2010, in Zilina Slovakia, Brooklyn NY, and Louisville KY. The Painted Bird | Bastard was developed and supported during residencies at Stanica Zilina-Zariecie (Slovakia) and Grotowski Institute (Poland). Bastard was created with financial support of Trust for Mutual Understanding, Greenwall Foundation, CEC Artslink, Simon Guggenheim Memorial Foundation, US Embassy in Slovakia, Ministry of Culture of the Slovak Republic and NF Slovak Telekom.
